Constantan Wire & Strip

Constantan wire and strip are copper–nickel–manganese alloys with stable electrical resistance and low temperature coefficient, making them suitable for precision electrical and temperature-measurement applications. They are widely used in thermocouples, resistance elements, rheostats, AC precision instruments, thermoresistive components, and DC current shunts where accurate current measurement and resistance stability are required.

    Feature

    +

It has lower temperature modulus (α<±40×10-6/℃) under the temperature between 20 to 400℃. It is characterized as common resistance components, rheostat, resistances for AC precision apparatus and thermo resistance under low temperature (<500℃) of such qualities as good oxidation-resisting, erosion-resisting and certain thermo-resisting. Typical content: Cu 58%, Ni 40% & Mn 1.0-2.0%

    Application

    +

Constantan wire and strip are mainly used in temperature measurement and precision resistance applications, including thermocouples combined with metals such as copper, iron, and chromel. They are also widely applied in resistance elements, rheostats, AC precision instruments, thermoresistive components, and DC current shunts, where their stable resistance allows accurate current measurement under varying operating conditions.
