Glass Tube for Reed Switch
Feature
This glass tube is designed for the precision cutting and hermetic sealing of reed switches. With diameters typically ranging from 1 mm to 5 mm, it can be customized to meet specific customer requirements. Its high iron content gives the glass a green or blue-green appearance and provides excellent infrared absorption while allowing ultraviolet transmission.
Application
The tube is ideal for manufacturing reed switches - simple electromechanical devices activated by a magnetic field. Each switch contains two flexible, ferromagnetic reeds sealed in a glass tube. When a magnetic field is applied, the reeds close the circuit; they reopen once the field is removed. Thanks to their sealed, durable design, reed switches resist corrosion and perform reliably in harsh or explosive environments. Common in security systems, they are highly sensitive, require no power to operate, and can handle a wide range of voltages and currents.
