Chinese Cooling Products Gain Popularity Amid Europe's Heatwaves

Europe has endured successive extreme heatwaves since late May. In July, temperatures repeatedly exceeded 40°C across France, Spain, Italy and Portugal, with widespread heat alerts issued. The EU’s climate monitoring service confirmed June 2026 was Western Europe’s hottest June on record.

Decades of mild summers meant cooling appliances were rarely essential for European households, with air conditioner penetration staying around 20%. Manufacturers adapt products to fit local market conditions. Many historic European buildings ban exterior wall drilling, so easy-to-install portable cooling units are highly favoured. High regional electricity costs also boost demand for energy-efficient models. Affordable pricing and customised designs further lift acceptance.

Industry observers note that extreme heat is accelerating long-term structural changes in European demand for cooling devices. Suppliers continue upgrading products toward higher energy efficiency and eco-friendly refrigerants to comply with tightening EU environmental regulations. Supported by complete industrial chains and continuous product innovation, Chinese cooling merchandise is set to maintain market momentum.
