Feature
This material possesses the following physicochemical properties, making it particularly suitable for pharmaceutical packaging.
l Extremely low coefficient of thermal expansion: A typical value of (3.3±0.1)×10⁻⁶/K gives it excellent thermal shock resistance.
l Excellent chemical stability: It exhibits first-class water resistance (acid resistance) and good alkali resistance.
l High mechanical strength and high-temperature resistance: With a softening point up to 820℃, it possesses high mechanical strength and can withstand certain external pressures.
l High light transmittance and safety: High light transmittance facilitates inspection of the drug solution's condition; when broken, it tends to produce large cracks rather than small particles, making it relatively safe.
Production Process
In pharmaceutical glass container manufacturing, it is mainly used in the tubular vial process: first drawn into glass tubes, then further processed into ampoules, tubular injection vials (vials), pre-filled syringe glass tubing, Karl cassettes, and other containers.
Due to its performance advantages, borosilicate 3.3 glass tubes are particularly suitable for packaging pH-sensitive, acidic or alkaline biological products, vaccines, and high-end injectable drugs that require high chemical stability and heat resistance.
For drugs requiring light protection, its brown variant can also be used for packaging.
