Pharmaceutical Borosilicate 6.8~7.1 Glass Tube

This special borosilicate glass contains 8%‑12% boron trioxide (B₂O₃). With a thermal expansion coefficient of 6.8‑7.1, it delivers outstanding heat resistance, chemical stability and mechanical strength. It withstands 121℃ high‑temperature sterilization, resists pharmaceutical acid‑alkali corrosion, lowers thermal‑shock breakage and reduces flaking risk for reliable pharmaceutical safety. Glass tubes are produced via the Danner Process for further conversion into tubular bottles of various sizes.

    Feature

    +

It is a special glass material containing 8% to 12% boron trioxide (B2O3). Its core characteristics include a low coefficient of thermal expansion (6.8~7.1), excellent high-temperature resistance, high chemical stability, and good mechanical strength. These properties enable it to withstand high-temperature sterilization (e.g., 121℃), effectively resist acid and alkali corrosion of pharmaceuticals, reduce the risk of breakage due to sudden temperature changes, and minimize the possibility of "flaking" due to long-term immersion, thereby ensuring the stability and safety of pharmaceuticals.

    Application

    +

Due to its excellent performance, borosilicate glass (6.8~7.1) has become the mainstream choice for packaging high-end pharmaceuticals such as pH-sensitive biological products, injections, and vaccines. It is mainly used to manufacture pharmaceutical packaging containers such as ampoules, vials, and pre-filled syringes.
